Laodong Miao Village in Shibadong Village

Situated on the west branch of Wuling Mountain in the northwest of Fenghuang Ancient Town, Laodong Miao Village is the top village in Xiangxi. It is made up of stones with elaborate design, and was home to the residence of Chen Quzhen, who ruled Xiangxi for 30 years. Laodong Miao Village also has the former residences of many celebrities such as Ma Jiafu, the richest man of the Miao ethnic group and Ma Zhi, the first Miao general of the Republic of China (1912-1949). Laodong Miao Village is famous for its Miao language and witch culture. In Laodong Miao Village, tourists can board a vessel at Changtangang Reservoir to see the beautiful mountain scenery. Tourists can also visit the valley, hike mountains or go to a Miao residence to taste local wine and foods and appreciate the stone-based architectural style.
